Who are the people behind Instructables Restaurant?
In the first place, all the members of Instructables.com who’ve uploaded their instructions are behind the Instructables Restaurant.
The Instructables Restaurant is an initiative by Arne Hendriks and Bas van Abel, who’ve met at the Hacking at Random Festival and started collaborating on the development of an open source restaurant since then. The Instructables Restaurant is their first experiment in internet digestion, combining open-source culture with food concepts.
Bas works as a Creative Director at Waag Society, a medialab in Amsterdam, using creative technology for social innovation. As co-founder of Fablab Amsterdam he is an active member of the international maker and fabrication community. With the Open Design program for Creative Commons Netherlands, he practices and researches the interface between design technology and free culture.
Arne is a willing participant in things worth getting involved with. He is an exhibition maker, sporadic writer, sometimes thinker and ambivalent lover of 2.0 mix-ups and the cultural effects of digital reality. He’s also creative producer at Platform21. In his spare time Arne runs The Average Home, a growing network of mini-galleries based in people’s homes.
A special thanks to all the people involved in making the first try-out happen!
